TESTIMONIALS

"This competition brings out the best in all of us - students, teachers, administrators learn to work together to prepare for this event.

The fact that the police are involved in such a positive manner is a wonderful bridge between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Students have to apply all their knowledge to participate – they need to utilize their math skills, English skills, and critical reasoning skills.

This competition brings students together – they worked together brilliantly because they focused on the team, not themselves.

What an extraordinary life lesson – it teaches tolerance, patience, and self-reflection.

I believe this competition should be expanded so more students can participate and develop such necessary life skills.”

    Paul Henning
    Clark High School, N.Y.

IT’S NOT JUST FOR FORENSIC SCIENCE CLASSES:

“This is Our Lady of Mercy’s second time at the competition.  We’re an all-girls Catholic school with no budget for the competition – not even buses.  We transported ourselves.  I am learning as well as my students.

We do not have a forensics class – they are really my Western Civilization class.  They are smart and motivated and a few of them are in AP Biology.  We are definitely low tech.  We did not have retractable magnetic brush, so we improvised and used refrigerator magnets!!!

We did not come to win.  We came to test our skills, solve a murder to the best of our ability, and have fun.”

      Joan Gordon
Our Lady of Mercy High School, N.Y.

“One of my students said the Forensics Competition he participated in was the absolute best field trip he had ever attended in his high school career”

“It is amazing to see my students, as well as others, working so hard and having so much fun at the same time”

“Every aspect of a great educational experience is present in this competition – observation, hands-on lab work, critical thinking, cooperative learning, oral presentation – it’s all there – they are applying all their skills learned in one amazing experience”

    Angie Cancemi
    Jericho UFSD

“The competition was truly amazing and was one of the greatest experiences of my students high school careers - to say the least – an astounding experience.  THANK YOU!!!

    Ericka Verderber

“It was obvious to observers that these students were totally engaged in the task of solving the crime.  The enthusiasm of the 270 students working cooperatively as teams, critically examining the crime, making hypothesis, gathering clues, highlights how GREAT this event is”

“Bad Day at Boulder Dash is a lifelong learning experience for the students that they will remember fondly – thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

    Margaret Intreglia
    West Babylon High School

My students and I were blown away by the attending dignitaries and their tremendous support – as a teacher, this was one of the BEST days I have spent with my students out of the classroom – none of us can stop talking about the entire competition”

    Vickie Newell
    West Islip High School

“We found the competition both enlightening and constructive in advancing our skills”
